About Wilma Birdwell
I have always loved to take photos all my life. I only had point and shot cameras. Not very good ones but I still loved the magic of trying. I was in an accident and I had gotten a 3pix camera to walk with as part of the healing process. The cheapest part of it too. But the more shots I took, I began to learn more and get better. So this is where I am today. I still love taking shots of about anything and trying shots that they say will not work. Some have and some not. But I am now on a new journey to see if there is anyone who likes what I do enough to pay for it. I don't have a style. If I see some thing that gets my attention I will shoot it with wild abandon. My family and friends are driven up the wall!

I posted the previous comment just below this one. I mentioned a screen door with a sailboat cutout. I found a very similar one on Pinterest by typing the words screen door sailboat but they can be found elsewhere. I also saw one with an anchor cutout.

I love wooden screen doors. It's worth the investment to have one made. It dramatically changes the appearance of a home. I've seen many homes when I'm on the road and it's often the first thing I notice. Many of them are in coastal areas. When I say dramatic, I'm thinking wood vs. aluminum. There's no comparison. I've seen one in East Boothbay that has a cutout (a sail boat) just below the screen in the upper half of the door. I've actually driven down the Ocean Point Road just to see the door. I haven't seen it in years so I don't know if it's still there or not. If the residents moved away, they would probably take the door with them. I haven't bothered to check pricing but I bet it's staggering. I love the one pictured here. It's lovely. How many movies have we seen with the ever familiar sound of a screen door slamming in the summertime? They sit and relax on the porch with lemonade or iced tea. There's a company in Waldoboro, Maine that makes wooden screen doors.

Thank you Didi, to be back at some of the farm houses of my childhood and see summer waiting for me, this is why I love this shot so much.
