Artist's Description

Surfside Beach, SC. 1962, Easter weekend. Our house was 3 blocks from the pier. Daddy got into a beer brewing. This was the capper he used to cap old coke bottles with his special brew. That Sunday morning the bottles began to explode. I came home from church hearing exploisons and yelling, The large group staying at our house had army blankets held up to protect themselves while reaching round to pour and drink before it blew up. No I did not have a boring childhood. Fond memories, good times, good times.

About Wilma Birdwell

Wilma Birdwell

I have always loved to take photos all my life. I only had point and shot cameras. Not very good ones but I still loved the magic of trying. I was in an accident and I had gotten a 3pix camera to walk with as part of the healing process. The cheapest part of it too. But the more shots I took, I began to learn more and get better. So this is where I am today. I still love taking shots of about anything and trying shots that they say will not work. Some have and some not. But I am now on a new journey to see if there is anyone who likes what I do enough to pay for it. I don't have a style. If I see some thing that gets my attention I will shoot it with wild abandon. My family and friends are driven up the wall!
